The Future of Healthcare in India
About
Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission
The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, launched on September 27, 2021, aims to enhance the
accessibility and equity of health services through IT and associated technologies. It adopts a
citizen-centric approach to support existing health systems. The mission envisions creating a
digital health ecosystem to achieve universal health coverage efficiently, affordably, and safely.
Expected benefits include improved efficiency, effectiveness, and transparency of health services,
providing individuals with choices to access both public and private healthcare, and granting
healthcare professionals better access to patient medical history for enhanced care delivery.
Patients will be able to securely store and access their medical records, they will
also be share them with health care providers which will ensure appropriate
treatment and follow-up. Individuals will have access to more accurate information
on private as well as public health facilities and service providers. Moreover,
patients can access health services remotely through tele-consultation and
e-pharmacy.
Health care professionals will have better access to patient’s medical history to
provide a better and effective health solutions. ABDM will digitize the claims
process and enable faster reimbursements
The ABDM will enable Policy makers to have better access to data to take an informed
decision. Better quality & accessibility of macro and micro-level data will enable
advanced analytics, usage of health-biomarkers and a much better preventive
healthcare. It will empower the government to have a geography and demography-based
monitoring and appropriate decision making, eventually design and strengthen
implementation of health programmes and policies.
The researchers will be able to access aggregated information as they will be
able to study and evaluate the effectiveness of various programmes and
interventions. ABDM would facilitate a comprehensive feedback loop between
researchers, policymakers, and providers.
About
Digital Health Incentives Scheme (DHIS)
Digital Health Incentives Scheme (DHIS)
Since the launch of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM),
digital health records have seen significant growth. However, many still rely on
non-digital healthcare services, indicating a need for further digitization across
India.
To boost digital health transactions, the National Health Authority (NHA)
introduced the Digital Health Incentive Scheme (DHIS) for healthcare providers.
Through DHIS, doctors can digitize patient health records and earn
incentives of up to ₹4 crores.
Furthermore, DHIS encourages makers of digital health software, such as
Hospital/Health Management Information System (HMIS) and Laboratory Management
Information System (LMIS), to offer their solutions at fair and affordable prices.
